About Farrowfield

Fallowfield is a suburb of Manchester located just south of the city centre. It’s a largely student area with the University of Manchester Fallowfield Campus having a huge presence in the town.

Fallowfield has around 15,000 inhabitants and a friendly atmosphere. As the town is geared up for students, there are lots of pubs, takeaways, shops and all the basics you’ll need during your stay.

While you may never have heard of Fallowfield before applying to the University of Manchester, it’s regarded as the only place to live in while you’re a student.

That means competition for student accommodation in Fallowfield is fierce, so you should book as quickly as you can!

Transport in Farrowfield

The main transportation in Fallowfield is bus, as the railway line is closed and was turned into a cycle path.

Fallowfield has no airport but is a short bus or train ride from Manchester Airport. Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield aren’t far away, either.

There are excellent bus services running throughout the town to Wilmslow Road, city centre, Levenshulme, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Sheffield and Manchester Airport.

While Fallowfield’s own railway station is closed, the Mauldeth Road railway station isn’t far away and provides links to Manchester Central Station and further afield.

Road links in and around Fallowfield are plentiful with the A34 running beside it, the A57, M60, M67, M602 and other routes all within a short drive of either of our University of Manchester accommodation.

Student life in Farrowfield

Fallowfield is widely regarded as the only place to live in while studying in Manchester. While predominantly for the University of Manchester, other students can also be found living here.

The town is relatively small but has a few pubs, takeaways, supermarkets, Curry Mile and all of life’s essentials. As the town is mainly studentville, most residents are friendly and accommodating to us, and most businesses are designed specifically for us.

Our accommodation in Fallowfield for students is 1.5 miles from town. One building is on Denmark Road, Manchester, and the other on Grafton Street, Manchester.

Both are close to Fallowfield and the city centre, so would work perfectly.
